PeakMind Mental Health & Performance Wellness was created at the intersection of mental health, performance, and lived experience.
I’m Jesse DeLong, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in California and a former Division I baseball pitcher. Before entering psychiatry, I competed at a high level in baseball and later coached at both the high school and college levels. Through those experiences—both on the field and off it—I saw something that often goes unspoken: in every high-pressure environment, there are individuals quietly carrying anxiety, depression, performance pressure, or emotional distress while trying to function, succeed, and keep moving forward.
While my background includes working with athletes and performance-driven individuals, the challenges I treat extend far beyond sports. I work with adults from all walks of life who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, substance use concerns, or periods of significant stress and transition.
I’ve also experienced this personally. I’ve struggled with depression and performance anxiety in my own life, which deeply shaped how I understand mental health and ultimately led me into this work. That lived experience allows me to approach care with empathy, realism, and respect for how mental health challenges show up in everyday life—whether someone is competing at a high level, balancing work and family demands, or simply trying to feel more stable and grounded.
At PeakMind, care is focused on helping individuals gain clarity, stability, and confidence through thoughtful, evidence-based treatment in a supportive and collaborative environment.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and performance-related concerns. My work emphasizes thoughtful, evidence-based medication management, combined with practical therapeutic strategies.
My approach often integrates:
Medication management
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles
Mindfulness and grounding techniques
Performance-focused strategies such as visualization and mindset work
Care is collaborative and patient-centered. I aim to create a space that is warm, motivating, and encouraging—where we work together to clarify goals, reduce symptoms, and build skills that translate into real-world functioning.
Whole-Person, Individualized Care
I recognize that mental health is not one-size-fits-all. When appropriate and desired, I welcome the integration of spiritual or reflective practices, understanding that these can be meaningful sources of resilience, purpose, and grounding for many people.
My goal is not just symptom reduction, but long-term mental wellness—helping you strengthen your inner resources while developing practical tools to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
I take time to get to know your strengths, your story, and the vision you have for your life moving forward. Whether you’re managing long-standing mental health concerns, navigating difficult emotions, or seeking to improve focus and performance, my aim is to make the experience grounding, clarifying, and comfortable.
With years of experience in psychiatric medication management and a background as a competitive athlete, I bring a practical, grounded approach to care—one that recognizes how mental health impacts focus, motivation, relationships, and performance in daily life.
Treatment at PeakMind is designed to support both clinical stability and real-world demands, helping individuals move forward with clarity, confidence, and balance.
If you’re ready to take meaningful steps toward growth and healing in a supportive, goal-focused environment, I invite you to reach out and begin the journey.
